Church Life Ministry
"Hi I'm Mabrie and I am so grateful to work with such an amazing staff at San Pedro PC. I've been a part of the San Pedro congregation since 1989. My husband, Sean and I were married at San Pedro and our two children were baptized here. San Pedro is my family. I am also the person who coordinates the administrative and business aspects of our church life. If you have any questions or if there is anything you need, I would love to hear from you.”
Be kind and loving,
Latest Church Life Ministry News
Through this extended time of uncertainty, San Pedro Presbyterian continues to be the church. Ministries for all ages continue, with renewed hope for a “normal” routine. Let us rejoice to see our children on Wednesdays with their friends (Pastor Paul knows how to get kids to sing), and to engage our children on Sundays during our Time for Children and as acolytes with their parents.
And yet, let us acknowledge the trauma that lingers. There is a general hesitancy for so many faithful Christians about being together without masks; and there is fatigue from the ever-shifting news about COVID numbers that rise and fall from week to week.
How should the church respond now?
No matter the season, we continue to be the church. We never stopped being the church. And we will always do the work of proclaiming the Good News, meeting the needs of our neighbors, and teaching the next generation of saints about Jesus.
So as a reminder: if you or somebody you know needs a contact from the church, for whatever reason, let us know. Call the church office and we’ll coordinate a pastoral visit or phone call. It’s o.k. to hurt or feel blue, but please remember the love of Christ offered to you through our church family. We have deacons, elders and pastoral staff who count it a privilege to reach out anytime.
You are loved by God and your church family at San Pedro Presbyterian.
We will be having “Family Fun Fest on Wednesday, September 29th.
There will be a bouncy house, games, face painting, and more!
We'll have burgers and dogs as well as other tasty snacks.
We still need some volunteers so please contact Eric Mapes @ email@example.com if you'd like to be a part of this fabulous fun!
Lord we pray for people who grieve.
Comfort, Holy Spirit, those who lost relatives, friends and co-workers on this day twenty years ago.
Fill with love the hearts of those who mourn.
Lord we pray for our nation.
Guide, Holy Spirit, those who are lost.
Bring people to Your Son, Jesus Christ, and give them peace.
Lord we pray for your church.
Empower, Holy Spirit, your people who serve in your name.
Open the doors of your church around the world, that your light might shine in the darkness.
Lord we pray for kind hearts.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
A big “thank you” is due staff members Pastor Paul Gaedke, Jesse Ramirez, and Griffin Gaedke for our new sound system and sanctuary improvements. San Pedro is now experiencing an exponential improvement in our audio/visual system due to their long hours and dedication to get the brand new system up and running.
Pastor Paul and Jesse have also put their carpentry and construction skills to use in repurposing our music room risers for the sanctuary and sound booth. By utilizing what we already had on hand, we’ve both opened up the music room to become a bell choir room, and also saved about $8000 in building costs. We’ve got more room for the choir in the sanctuary, and our sound booth is no longer partially obscuring the side exit.
Griffin’s been with us throughout the pandemic, and he’s been instrumental in keeping our online sound and visual system going for these many months. What you see online is now a weekly offering that many of our San Pedro folks continue to enjoy while traveling or away from the sanctuary.
So again, take a moment to say “thank you” to each of them when you see them face to face. We’re lucky to have them on our staff.
