July 10th ORDER OF WORSHIP

†Congregation Standing, as able

MUSIC (starts at 9:45 Videos)

WORDS OF WELCOME

PRELUDE “Allegro” William Boyce

†INTROIT “Creation Song”

Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord! Let everything that has breath,

shout and sing. For God created the heavens and earth by speaking only a word,

Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord!

†CALL TO WORSHIP (Based on Psalm 71)

Leader: In you, we take refuge.

People: In your righteousness, you deliver us.

Leader: You have taught us your ways, and we gather to celebrate your wonderful works.

Unison: Through your great love you bring us near. We unite our voices to sing your praise.

Leader: Let us worship God.

†HYMN OF PRAISE #11 “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,

Tune my heart to sing Thy grace,;

Streams of mercy, never ceasing,

Call for songs of loudest praise.

Teach me some melodious sonnet,

Sung by flaming tongues above,

Praise His name – I’m fixed upon it-

Name of God’s redeeming love.

Hitherto Thy love has blest me;

Thou hast brought me to this place;

And I know Thy hand will bring me

Safely home by Thy good grace.

Jesus sought me when a stranger,

Wand’ring from the fold of God;

He, to rescue me from danger,

Bought me with His precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor

Daily I’m constrained to be!

Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,

Bind my wand’ring heart to Thee.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,

Prone to leave the God I love;

Hear’s my heart, O take and seal it;

Seal it for Thy courts above.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (First in Silence, then in Unison)

Loving and gracious God, you are patient with us. We run away, and you seek us. We make foolish choices, and you teach us the better way. We hurt you and others, and instead of hurting us back, you forgive us. Help us, we pray; help us reveal your glory and goodness in our living, that we would bear the imprint of Christ throughout the world. Amen.

THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  “Lamb of God”

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. Lamb of God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world. Grant us peace; grant us peace.

ASSURANCE OF GOD'S FAITHFULNESS

†GLORIA PATRI  "Glory Be to the Father”

Glory Be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

ANTHEM “Written in Red” Gordon Jensen/arr. Camp Kirkland

In letters of crimson God wrote His love

On a hillside so long, long ago.

For you and for me Jesus died

and love’s greatest story was told.

I love you, I love you;

That’s what Calvary said.

I love you, I love you,

I love you written in red.

Down through the ages

God wrote His love

With the same hands

That suffered and bled.

Giving all He had to give

A message so easily read.

I love you, I love you;

That’s what Calvary said.

I love you, I love you,

I love you written in red.

Oh precious is the flow

That makes me white as snow.

There is no other fount I know,

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

I love you, I love you;

That’s what Calvary said.

I love you, I love you,

I love you written in red.

I love you.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER

Lord hear our prayer, hear our prayer have mercy on us. Lord hear our prayer, hear our prayer have mercy on us.

MOMENT WITH THE CHILDREN

CONGREGATIONAL FELLOWSHIP & CHILDREN ARE EXCUSED FOR CHILDREN’S CHURCH

†HYMN OF PREPARATION #667 “Lord, Speak to Me”

Lord, speak to me, that I may speak

In living echoes of Thy tone;

As Thou hast sought, so let me seek

Thine erring children lost and lone.

O teach me, Lord, that I may teach

The precious things Thou dost impart;

And wing my words that they may reach

The hidden depths of many a heart.

SERMON SCRIPTURE READINGS

Psalm 133:1

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is

For brothers to dwell together in unity!

1 Samuel 28:5-15

When Saul saw the camp of the Philistines, he was afraid and his heart trembled greatly. When Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by prophets. Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “Behold, there is a woman who is a medium at En-dor.”

Then Saul disguised himself by putting on other clothes, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night; and he said, “Conjure up for me, please, and bring up for me whom I shall name to you.” But the woman said to him, “Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who are mediums and spiritists from the land. Why are you then laying a snare for my life to bring about my death?” Saul vowed to her by the Lord, saying, “As the Lord lives, no punishment shall come upon you for this thing.” Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” And he said, “Bring up Samuel for me.” When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul.” The king said to her, “Do not be afraid; but what do you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I see a divine being coming up out of the earth.” He said to her, “What is his form?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped with a robe.” And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and did homage.

Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” And Saul answered, “I am greatly distressed; for the Philistines are waging war against me, and God has departed from me and no longer answers me, either through prophets or by dreams; therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I should do.”

SERMON “Sorcery” Dr. Bryan Stamper

†PROCLAMATION OF FAITH “The Apostles Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE OFFERTORY  “Brother James’ Air” arr. Gilbert Martin

†DOXOLOGY AND DEDICATION “Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow”

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host: Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

†SENDING HYMN #656 “Take Time to Be Holy”

Take time to be holy,

Speak oft with thy Lord;

Abide in Him always

And feed on His Word.

Make friends with God’s children,

Help those who are weak;

Forgetting in nothing

His blessing to seek.

Take time to be holy,

The world rushes on;

Spend much time in secret

With Jesus alone.

By looking to Jesus,

Like Him thou shalt be;

Thy friends in thy conduct

His likeness shall see.

Take time to be holy,

Let Him be thy Guide,

And run not before Him,

Whatever betide.

In joy or in sorrow

Still follow thy Lord,

And, looking to Jesus,

Still trust in His Word.

Take time to be holy,

Be calm in thy soul-

Each thought and each motive

Beneath His control.

Thus led by His Spirit

To fountains of love,

Thou soon shall be fitted

For service above.
