New Flooring Installation
Communications

We are installing new floors and updating/cleaning our sanctuary walls. These major renovations are funded by the generosity of San Pedro friends and family. The renovations will begin after Christmas and run through the first two weeks of January.

Frequently asked questions:

Q: Why are we getting new floors?

A: The carpeting is several decades old, with permanent stains and tears in multiple places. The laminate flooring was improperly installed and has previously buckled in the narthex (we have no more replacement tiles for repairs). We are installing modern, lighter color flooring that will be repairable and cleanable. The floors will run seamlessly from the sanctuary into the narthex, all hallways, and Reynolds Hall.

Q: Will our sanctuary be noisy without the fabric?

A: If needed, we will add individual sound panels after we sheetrock over the current brown coverings. This will allow us to paint the walls in the future (which are currently dirty and cannot be cleaned). Our sound installation company will balance our new speakers to match the needs of the sanctuary.

Q: When will the installations take place?

A: Sanctuary wall updates start January 27th. Floor demo and installation happens the first two weeks in January (when we will worship in Reynolds Hall).

Q: Where is the money coming from?

A: We had a high operating cash balance, which allowed us to fund the flooring project without incurring debt. The wall updates are paid for by a couple in our church ($29,000), for which we are grateful. If you would like to contribute towards the new flooring as an end of year gift, donations can be sent to - Attn: Treasurer, San Pedro Presbyterian Church, 14900 San Pedro Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78232.

Q: Who approves these projects?

A: All projects are approved by the elected Elders on Session. The vote for these projects was unanimous.
